Multiple student-athletes from Sachem have been mentioned by Newsday and News 12 Varsity in pre-season watch lists for their respective sports.

In football, Sachem East senior Tyler Butkevich is expected to have a breakout season at the wide receiver and defensive back positions. RPI-bound Matt Chirichella, a senior lineman at Sachem North, as well as Chris Maser, a senior running back and defensive back, were both named to the News 12 Varsity pre-season top 100.

Sachem East’s Kristen Shanahan, a sophomore forward, has been on the varsity since seventh grade and had 18 goals and three assists last season. Paeton Hartmann, a junior midfielder from Sachem North, is fast with great stick skills.

On the soccer pitch, Sachem East senior defender Sunny Gu is expected to dominant in the back for the Arrows, and was picked as a player to watch by opposing Suffolk League I coaches.

There are a number of volleyball stars from the boys and girl’s teams at both Sachem East and Sachem North. You have Cierra Dolan, Molly Jandris, and Sarah Mangan from Sachem East. The Arrows are a team with big aspirations, and Dolan’s experience with the GEVA High Performance Team that won a gold medal this summer makes her a leader. Jandris has grown to 6-2 and is a formidable threat across the court. Mangan, a high jumper with an aggressive swing, has agreed to play at LIU Post after finishing her senior year.

For the Sachem North boys squad, Dan LaRosa, Alex Lehnert and Connor Pallmann are all capable of leading the Flaming Arrows to another state title. At 6-7, few can match Lehnert’s jumping ability. Pallmann had 166 kills, 3.5 per set played, last season.

Good luck to all of our teams competing this fall! #GoArrows
