This year’s St. Baldrick’s event was a huge success at Sagamore.  There were 40 “shavees” including some teachers and Sagamore’s principal, Mr. Panasci.  Each grade spent a period in the gymnasium cheering on their classmates stepped up to be shaved.   These courageous participants raised awareness, and donated $24,000 toward research to battle childhood cancer.

The event began with a heartwarming speech by Mrs. Moore’s daughter Alexa, who bravely fought cancer as a child.  The St. Baldrick’s participants had their heads shaved, and the participants gave long locks that will be used to make wigs for children who are enduring chemotherapy.  The event was inspirational and the support from the Sagamore community was amazing.

To add to the event, the crowd was able to enjoy performances by the impressive Sagamore Arrowettes, the Sagamore Cheer team, and two Irish step dancers who happened to be Mr. Panasci’s lovely daughters.  Each participant got a beautiful cupcake made by Mrs. Grant, and the admiration from their teachers and peers. Mr. Berger, Ms. Alexander, Ms. Ackerly-Dahn, Mrs. Jargo, Mrs. Onorato, and Mrs. Gustavson worked hard to organize this event.  We are so proud of all of the St. Baldrick’s participants who came together and made this year’s St. Baldrick’s event a great one.
