Sachem North won its first National Dance Alliance Kick national championship in the Small Varsity Division after a dashing performance this past weekend.

The Flaming Arrows also earned the prestigious Grand Champion honor as the top team of the entire NDA competition.

Their scores of 95.45 in the kick routine and 94.9 in pom were exceptional.

“I am speechless,” said Sachem coach and alumnus Katie Prusinski. “Our team danced amazing this weekend, and when things weren’t going as we hoped we continued to push and believe.”

In fitting tribute to Sachem alum Matt DiStefano, who passed away recently after a fight with cancer, Prusinski pointed out that her team is fortunate to be champions.

“#WeGetTo be NDA National Grand Champions,” she said, using DiStefano’s lasting quote and mindset.

Congratulations to all student-athletes, coaches and their families on the honor! #GoArrows
